The Amazing Journey is a primary school presentation, which travels all across Ireland enabling children from different backgrounds to hear the message of the Bible.

Each week a local church will book The Amazing Journey to visit schools in their area. In each school the entire Assembly Hall is used to erect huge display panels, which act as a backdrop for a journey back into Bible times. A lively narration is punctuated with appearances by Bible characters from Goliath to Mary who tell their own story to the children. This, combined with the opportunity for the children to taste food from Bible times and dress in period outfits, really brings the era, characters and stories to life in an unforgettable way.

The presentation has a take-home pack for the children containing either a book of the Bible or a children’s Scripture booklet. Also included is an offer of a free ‘Big Word for Kids’ New Testament to each child returning the form. This provides wonderful opportunities for local church follow-up as members deliver New Testaments to individual homes. We have heard of many encouraging stories of contacts made with families and of children enthusiastically reading the Word of God.

Baptist Youth runs The Amazing Journey as a means of reaching children with the good news of Jesus Christ. Sadly very few children attend church, Sunday School or children’s clubs. As the number of children attending church dramatically drops the best place to reach them is the one place every child attends – school.

We have 3 aims behind The Amazing Journey. Firstly, to teach children Bible stories because very few know even the most famous stories. Our second aim is to teach children the message of the Bible – the gospel. And thirdly, to enthuse children to read the Bible for themselves.
